A duathlon consists of three legs, performed in order. The first is a running leg, followed by a cycling leg and then another running leg to finish.
The distances involved in the Olympic category are as follows: 10km run, 40km bike ride, 5km run.
How to complete the Olympic Duathlon
- Report at the start line and commence the first running leg (10km) when the timer starts.
- Cross the finish line to complete your first running leg.
- Walk into the transition zone after completing the first running leg.
- Wear your helmet. Participants are not allowed to ride without helmets.
- Walk out of the transition zone with your bike. Do not ride your bike in the transition zone .
- Mount your bike at the start line and commence your cycling leg (40km)
- Cross the finish line to complete the cycling leg.
- Dismount your bike after completing the cycling leg.
- Walk into the transition zone with your bike and park it properly.
- Walk out of the transition zone and commence your final running leg (5km) from the designated start line.
- Cross the finish line to complete your final running leg and the race.
Things to Keep in Mind
- Wear your number stickers at all times. Make sure that your bikes and helmets also have the number stickers attached
- Wear your helmet throughout your ride. Athletes riding without the helmets will be disqualified.

Make sure to follow your route properly. Our race staff will be monitoring the route to verify the completion of laps
- Start each leg (running or cycling) at the start line and not the finish line
Similarly, end each leg at the finish line and not the start line.
A word of caution to all participants:
Drafting is only allowed among participants. Anyone caught drafting behind a non-participant during the cycling leg will be disqualified immediately.
